“And David the king came and sat before the LORD, and said, Who am I, O LORD God, and what is mine house, that thou hast brought me hitherto…”
I Chronicles 17:16

I feel compelled to ask you to make a thorough investigation of your character, your integrity and your assignment during this season in your life … Who are you?

David was now settled in the palace, being removed from the fields, he was now in a new position and environment.  I recall the Lord placing me in new surroundings, away from my comfort zone.  During this time, there was a re-positioning of adjustment which had to be made within myself.

In many instances, once we move from glory to glory, we remain in some of the same circles, and not move forth in our God given destination or position.  The scriptural reference is addressing the fact that David came to a realization that things had changed.

Too often when we are blessed with a new job, or moved from one arena to the other, we try to hang on to the familiar things.  Many of our acclaimed athletes have found themselves in negative situations, because they did not excel in their character as they did in the sport in which they are recognized.

David asked the Lord, Who am I, or Lord what have you seen in me that you have blessed me beyond measure?  Lord do I even deserve this position?   I believe these are very important questions in recognizing, who you are.  Celebrate and embrace what the Lord has given you.  Don’t miss the enjoyment of the present, dwelling on the past.

David goes on to say, “what is mine house, that thou has brought me hitherto…”  Have you ever looked around as a character from TV Land, Gomer Pyle would say….and say to yourself, Gooollleee!  David moved from the pasture to the palace, as many of you have, and you are still looking around bewildered, wondering….Who am I?  How did I get here?

How did I get the position?  How did I receive the degree?  How did I move into that neighborhood?

The Lord is saying….you are who I say you are!  You are more than a conqueror….you are above and not beneath, you are the head and not the tail…and I have given you more than enough to move forth, even in the midst of uncertain circumstances.  So the next time, you want to know who you are…sit before the Lord and I am a witness you will learn from the answer, and grow in the process
